Photography for the
Internet is a completely different concept from taking pictures for
an album or a publication. The clarity of an image on the
Internet is limited by the resolution of your screen and the size of
a typical modem. Most monitors have a resolution of 800x600
pixels so it is pointless publishing a photograph of a greater size
than that on the Internet. At the same time most people
connect to the Internet through dial-up modems that allow a
connection speed of 56 kilo bits per second (7168 bytes/second) so
putting a picture of more than 100 Kbytes on the screen is going to
test the patience of everybody.
Therefore you do
not need to use incredibly expensive cameras to take good pictures
for the web. I use a Fujifilm 3 megapixel and a Kodak 1.3
mexapixel digital cameras but have taken a number of decent pictures
with an Agfa pocket camera costing £70.
I will do a photo
session for you as part of a first consultation for no charge
anywhere on the Isle of Wight if you want me to make a web site for
you. If you want me to make a special journey then I charge
£30 per session.
If you want a
9''x6'' print of any of my photographs then the charge is £10 per
item (delivered including postage and packaging).
Below are some of
my photographs that I have taken. If you click on the images
they will expand. All of these pictures are free of copyright
but if you wish to use them please link back to
www.islandwebservices.co.uk.
Please note that
all pictures have been optimised for the Internet to reduce download
time. There will be a reduction in the quality as a result.
